My Approach

I think of therapy as a path of liberation, a way of freeing ourselves from the obstacles which prevent us from moving forward in our lives. Frequently these obstacles present themselves to us in the challenges of the outer world—in problems at work, in difficult relationships, in adapting to life changes, or in the sudden impact of a traumatic event. And sometimes what stands in the way of our freedom and happiness lies within us, as negative thought patterns, conflicting or confusing emotions, and unexpressed feelings.

So how do we work through these obstacles which can cause so much pain and trouble? And how can therapy help us acquire the insights and skills we need in order to alleviate our suffering and transform our lives? In-Depth, Body-Oriented psychotherapy provides the process by which we can go inside our minds, our hearts, and into the depths of our bodies and souls.

This holistic approach acknowledges that sometimes what happens to us in life can linger on beneath the level of our conscious awareness. It can live in our bodies as numbness and denial and can lead to physical symptoms, mental discomfort, and spiritual emptiness. Becoming more connected to our bodies is often effective in freeing us from stressful and ingrained patterns. With this freedom we become more real to ourselves and more authentic in our relationships.

As a psychotherapist I provide professional expertise and help to create a compassionate, safe place, in order to support you as you work through the challenges of constructing the life you really want. No human being should have to bear his or her burdens alone.

Drawing on a wide range of classical and contemporary psychodynamic therapies, body psychotherapy, expressive arts, dream work, meditation, and mind-body techniques, I will focus on your individual needs as you strive for increased self awareness, self expression, a sense of wholeness, and new ways of thinking about yourself and your life.

I work with adult individuals and couples. Some of the issues I address include:
Depression, Self Esteem, Anxiety, Domestic Violence, PTSD, Dating and Relationships, Trauma, Chronic Illness, Life Threatening Illness, Divorce, Eating Disorders, Grief, Aging, Parenting, Sexuality, Career Changes, Retirement, and Marital Conflict.
